If you feel embarrassed shopping for sex toys online, a new virtuous website may be just the thing to help you feel good about being bad.
The Family Planning Association (FPA) has launched it’s first online sex shop, stocking toys, (such as the Crazy Rabbit Waterproof Vibrator, left, £49.99) games, DVDs - all intended to help improve the nation’s sex lives.
The 82-year-old charity, famous for establishing a UK network of contraception clinics, started desireandpleasure.co.uk, which is designed to be a good and ethical alternative to what it believes to be the ‘bad and ugly’ practices of a growing number of online sex shops.
“The internet has created a new era of freedom for people to buy sex products and toys” explains Terry Hawkins, Business development manager, FPA.
“However, we’re increasingly concerned by some of the common practices in this sector and believe there is a need for safe and trusted place where people can shop with confidence,” added Terry.
The practices on the FPA’s hitlist include boycotting products with offensive names and packaging or those that have violent connotations.
They have also toned down sexually explicit descriptions and tackled online marketing – which means you won’t get hit with explicit advertising when you are no longer browsing sites of a sexual nature. This is to stop potentially exposing children to it when using a family computer.
The site also provides customers with access to expert advice and help with any sexual health questions – and all profits go towards their work in sexual health across the UK.
